From 22nd April 2026, American Express will no longer be accepted as a payment method when purchasing retail discounts through Mintago. Visa and Mastercard will continue to work as normal.
Why we're making this change
Our goal with retail discounts is simple: pass on the best possible savings to you. To do that, we need to keep our operating costs as low as we can.
Card processing fees vary significantly between card networks. American Express charges substantially higher fees than Visa and Mastercard, and those costs ultimately eat into the savings we're able to offer. By focusing on the card networks with the lowest fees, we can keep more of the discount in your pocket.
What you need to do
If you currently use an American Express card for retail discount purchases, you'll need to switch to a Visa or Mastercard. Most people already have one of these, but if you don't, a basic debit card from your bank will work.
What this doesn't affect
This change only applies to the retail discounts checkout. No other part of your Mintago experience is affected. If you have any questions, our support team is happy to help.
